Hardware Upgrade is a Disaster - 02 April 2005 at 15:39
As my laptop is a desktop replacement it uses desktop hardware contained within a laptop case. This means that upgrades are relatively painless as I'm able to use desktop stuff. I have checked my latest BIOS update and found that I can address my HDD using the newer 48Bit LBA. This means that coupled with my XP SP2 I can break the 137GB barrier. Well so I thought, I have had no end of problems when I use anything beyond the 137Gb Barrier. XP, BIOS and Seagate utilities see the drive with no problems. I just cannot have anything beyond the 137Gb threshold without XP blue screening on startup. When I run diagnostic utilities it details that the file system is corrupt and cannot be repaired. Any suggestions greatly received.
